An Artificial Intelligence-Aided Robotic Platform for Ultrasound-Guided Transcarotid Revascularization

Transcarotid Artery Revascularization (TCAR) is typically performed by manual catheter insertion and implies radiation exposure for both the patient surgeon. Taking advantage from robotics artificial intelligence (AI), this letter presents a robotic ultrasound (RUS) platform improving procedure. To purpose, (US) imaging considered in pre-operative stage procedure planning intra-operative to track catheter. 3D vascular volumes can be precisely reconstructed sequences of 2D images exploiting probe manipulation AI-based image analysis. The method proved median reconstruction error lower than 1 mm. Pre-operative information are mapped scenario thanks US-based registration routine. automatic alignment on target vessel demonstrated as precise 0.84°. model exploited automatically generate trajectory based user inputs.
